How to organise your notes on Android
A few habits keep notes easy to find.
- Open Simple Notes and tap to start a new note. Give it a clear first line.
- Add one or two tags, such as work, home or ideas, so related notes group together.
- Use a checklist for anything with steps, and tick items off as you go.
- Use search to find a note by a word from its title or text.
- Copy or share important notes to another place you control, since notes are stored only on your phone.
Frequently asked questions
Where are my notes stored?
On your phone only. The app has no account and does not upload your notes. Your device may include app data in an Android backup, which you manage in your device and Google account settings.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There is no account and no cloud sync, so you can start writing straight away.
Can I search my notes and use tags?
Yes. Tags help you group notes and search helps you find them quickly.
Does Simple Notes have checklists?
Yes. You can create checklists inside your notes for shopping lists, tasks and plans.
What happens to my notes if I lose or reset my phone?
Because notes are stored only on your phone, they could be lost if you delete the app, clear its data or lose or reset the device. Copy or share anything important to another place.
Is Simple Notes free?
The app is free and supported by ads, with consent choices where the law requires them.
