You can start casting in a few taps once your phone and receiver are on the same network.

  1. Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi network as your TV or streaming device.
  2. Open Smart Cast and wait for your receiver to appear under Devices, then tap it to connect.
  3. Open Media, then choose a video, photo, music track or web page to cast.
  4. Use the player or the remote to pause, skip or change the volume.
  5. If the receiver does not appear, run the diagnostics or follow the troubleshooting guide.

Frequently asked questions

How do I cast videos from my Android phone to my TV?

Put your phone and TV on the same Wi-Fi network, open Smart Cast, connect to your receiver under Devices and pick a video in Media. The video is streamed from your phone to the receiver while it plays.

Which devices does Smart Cast work with?

It works with receivers that support Google Cast. What each receiver can do, such as its controls and supported file types, depends on the device.

Can I mirror my phone screen?

Google Cast receivers do not accept screen mirroring from apps other than the system's own, so the app shows mirroring as unavailable for them and points you to Android's cast panel. Protected content may appear blank when mirrored.

Does Smart Cast upload my videos and photos?

No. Local media is streamed over your own network to the receiver you cast to, only while it plays. The app does not upload it to a server, and your casting history stays on your phone.

Why can't Smart Cast find my TV?

Check that both devices are on the same network, that your router allows devices to see each other and that the TV is on. The diagnostics screen and troubleshooting guides help find which step fails.

Is Smart Cast free?

The app is free and supported by ads, with consent choices where the law requires them.
