SmartTag: Detect Nearby Bluetooth Trackers and Possible Unwanted Tracking
Detect nearby Bluetooth trackers and possible unwanted tracking.
About this app
SmartTag scans for nearby Bluetooth trackers, tells you when one may be travelling with you, helps you find it and keeps a detection history on your phone that you control. You can mark your own trackers as trusted and create an incident report if you need one. The app is free and supported by ads, which never appear on alerts or risk warnings.
Features

- Find-nearby help and a safety guide
- Local history, trusted trackers and incident reports
What SmartTag shows you
Small Bluetooth trackers can end up with someone who does not own them. SmartTag looks for them nearby and explains what it finds in plain language.
- Nearby trackers
- Trackers and other Bluetooth finders in range, with their type, estimated distance and how long they have been around.
- Possible unwanted tracking
- A risk assessment that looks at repeated sightings over time, and always says "possible" because detection is never certain.
- Find nearby
- Help to locate a tracker close to you, and a sound on trackers that support it.
- Trusted trackers
- Mark your own trackers as safe so they stop raising alerts.
- History and incident reports
- A detection history stored on your phone, with optional locations, and a report you can export if you need one.
- Safety guidance
- A safety centre explaining what to do if you find a tracker you do not recognise.
How to check for a tracker that may be following you
A scan takes a short time, and the app explains the result.
- Open SmartTag, allow Bluetooth (Nearby devices) when Android asks and make sure Bluetooth is on.
- Tap Scan now and wait for the scan to finish.
- Open any tracker in the list to see its type, signal and history, and mark it as trusted if it is yours.
- If a tracker is flagged as a possible risk, read the guidance and use Find nearby to look for it.
- Turn on background protection in Protection if you want ongoing checks and alerts.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check for Bluetooth trackers near me?
Open SmartTag, make sure Bluetooth is on and tap Scan now. The app lists the trackers it hears nearby and explains whether any of them may have been travelling with you.
Can SmartTag find every tracker?
No. Detection depends on Bluetooth signals, your phone and the tracker, so a tracker can be missed or a harmless device can be flagged. It does not replace the protection built into your phone, and it is not a guarantee of safety.
Does SmartTag track my location?
Location is optional. If you allow it and keep the setting on, the app saves one approximate position per scan so you can see where a tracker was detected. The app never asks for background location.
Where is my detection history stored?
Only on your phone. The app has no account and no server for your detections, history is deleted after the retention period you choose, and you can delete everything from Settings.
What should I do if I find a tracker that is not mine?
Read the safety guide in the app. If you believe you are in danger, contact your local emergency services first, and keep notes or an incident report if you want to show what you found.
Is SmartTag free?
The app is free and supported by ads, with consent choices where the law requires them. Ads never appear on alerts or risk warnings.
